Description:

The Kylesku Bridge, also known as Drochaid a' Chaolais Chumhaing is one of the most recognizable landmarks on the North Coast 500. Its elegant, curving design is a triumph of modern engineering but the bridge’s true power lies in its dramatic setting. Located in the heart of the Assynt region in Sutherland, it serves as a gateway to one of the most raw and untamed landscapes in Scotland, connecting travelers to a world of deep lochs and soaring, ancient mountains. The bridge was completed in 1984 replacing a historic ferry service and is recognized not just for its innovative concrete construction, but for its minimal visual impact on the surrounding environment. The bridge follows the natural contours of the landscape, sweeping gracefully over the tidal currents of the loch below. It is a rare example of infrastructure that enhances, rather than detracts from, the grandeur of its surroundings.
