Description:
Castle Leod is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful, romantic, and unspoiled castles in the Highlands. Home to the same family for over 500 years, it serves as the Seat of Clan Mackenzie, led by their Chief (Cabarfeidh), the Earl of Cromartie, and his family. Steeped in history, the castle has been at the heart of Highland and Scottish politics, playing a significant role in the Jacobite Rising of 1745 and other dramatic events, from death sentences for High Treason to the awarding of an Earldom, from fierce clan battles to close ties with royalty, from near poverty to great power. Today, the swords are sheathed, and the guns lie silent.
