Finavon Castle *

Description:
Not much remains of Finavon Castle. A square tower, standing isolated in the grounds of a more modern mansion.
This was heart and centre of Angus and seat of the premier Earls of all Scotland, the Lindsay Earls of Crawford.
The historic wedding of David Lindsay, the 10th Earl of Crawford to Margaret, the daughter of Cardinal David Beaton took place here in 1546.
The castle was built in the 15th century, where the Lemno Burn joins the South Esk.
