Description:

Crawford Castle’s ruins sit on the north bank of the River Clyde, about half a mile north of Crawford in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Once known as Lindsay Tower after its former owners, the Lindsay family, the crumbling remains rest on an earlier motte-and-bailey earthwork. Its strategic position guarded the route from England into the upper Clyde Valley. Though now overgrown and in decay, it’s still a fantastic spot to explore, with plenty of fascinating features to spot. To reach it, cross the river from the village and you’ll see it standing on the opposite bank.
