Major problem
Bad news for anyone who is planning to take the Moray Coast trail on the challenge or the challenge east. The historic former railway bridge over the River Spey at Garmouth has partly collapsed into the river. It can no longer be crossed, which means that the Moray Coast Trail cannot now be completed in full.
Description:
A slightly harder 72 km walk following the Moray coast. Paths may be indistinct and navigation skills are required. From Forres to Cullen the coastline and settlements of Moray are linked by this waymarked coastal trail.
With its marvellous landscapes from caves and sheltered coves to fishertown harbours. Enjoy a sense of wilderness with imposing cliffs, sandy beaches and rare plants of the coastline, while never being far from civilisation. The trail links a number of attractive coastal villages and towns, with extensive services and accommodation.
Stages:
- Forres - Burghead 20,5 km (Slightly harder)
- Burghead - Lossiemouth 14,5 km (Slightly harder)
- Lossiemouth - Buckie 25,25 km (Slightly harder)
- Buckie - Cullen 12 km (Slightly harder)
