Dunphail Castle *
This was a Comyn Castle and in 1330 it was under seige from the Earl of Moray. Five of the defenders of the castle (Alasdair Comyn of Dunphail and 4 of his men) fought their way out to re-supply their comrades with food. They were captured however and beheaded on the spot. As a taunt the heads were thrown over the wall. As panic set in the garrison of the castle tried to flee. They were slaughtered. The lands later passed to the Dunbars.
