Carraig Nam Marbh (Rock of the Dead) ***

Description:

This presented me with a bit of a problem as I do not want you to expect a real exiting find. There is nothing there, nothing special to see!

A little ways past Kilninver (B844) a natural rock pier sticks out from Loch Feochan's shore. From this ‘Rock of the Dead’ the royal galleys with the dead King's body sailed to Iona and the King’s final resting place in the Reilig Òdhrain on Iona.

And that is all there is to it! The historical 'significance' combined with present day reality in front of your eyes: That is what made me 'award' this site with 3 stars. I'm sure it's just me, but this spot keeps drawing me back. Odd..I know!
