Description:

In 1307 a small company of English troops carelessly bivouacked in Moss Raploch. Falling on the sleeping soldiers before dawn, Bruce and his party took them by surprise, slew many of them, and dispersed the rest.

A big stone is still pointed out as the King's resting-place after the fight......at least that is what 'they' say.

The actual site of the battle is now covered by the reservoir of Clatteringshaws. It is a very beautiful spot but as for the battle.......?
