An easy 65 km walk, mostly on well defined paths, with no special difficulties.

The River Ayr Way offers wild moorland rich in natural and industrial history. The route passes through one of the most interesting river valleys in Southern Scotland and can be walked over a (long) weekend. The area is steeped in history with links to many famous Scottish figures including Robert Burns and William Wallace.

The final section leads through open farmland and estates before reaching the historic county town of Ayr and connecting with the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
