Description:

Situated on an island in the middle of a beautiful loch and surrounded by ancient Rothiemurchus forest, Loch an Eilean Castle must surely be one of Scotland's most picturesque ruins. The exact origins of the castle are uncertain, but the current structure is estimated to be at least 600 years old. Loch an Eilean was a stronghold of the Comyn family.
